DSSC/TSOC ENTRANCE EXAMINATION - TACTICS A

Marks Possible         - 500                                                               Time Allowed – 3 Hours

Pass Marks               - 200

There are 21 questions in this paper.  Please pay attention to the instructions given in each section.

SECTION I                             Marks – 100

 

Answer any two questions in approximately 250 words each.  Each question carries 50 marks.

 

Q1.     Your brigade has been earmarked for induction into an area afflicted by insurgency within the next six months.  Being the firs formation to be inducted, your Brigade Commander is required to make a presentation at the higher Headquarters on the following aspects:-

 

(a)      Broad concept of deployment.

 

(b)      Suggested mechanism for synergisation of operational and intelligence effort amongst various agencies and security forces deployed in the area of operations.

 

(c)      Requirement of special powers and legal cover to the troops involved in counter insurgency (CI) operations.

 

(d)      Various facets of training required to be undertaken to prepare the formation for the impending task.

 

As GSO1 (Ops) of the formation, what all aspects will you include in the draft briefing of your Commander?

 

Q2.     What are the salient aspects of offensive operations in Line of Control environment?

 

Q3.     Shaping of the battlefield is undertaken to create conditions that will facilitate the success of own operations in the context of the overall operational aim.  How do you visualize this being carried out prior to the commencement of operations by a strike corps?
